Our request to potential fundraisers
Thank you so much for wanting to raise money on behalf of our cause. We have recently been troubled by illegal activities being done in our name and thereby earning the ill-will of those who thought they had donated to us, so we would be grateful if you collected donations for us only after having spoken to us. This may seem like a less than loving response to your kindness, but we would be grateful if you would not use our photos, forms, newsletters or online material without our express consent.
Support our work
Our project is to build a purpose-built building to house all those in the Lazarus Home for Girls, which is currently underway. More girls can be sheltered, fed, and educated in the new building, and the Friends of the Lazarus Home for Girls in Bethany is dedicated to completing this work, and to suporting it inthe future.
All donations to our charity goes directly to our project. We do not take a penny from these for administration. We cover our own expenses. We are working hard on the Lazarus Project, and you can help us achieve this worthy goal, which will make the lives of so many destitute and orphaned girls better.

This enthralling book describes the lives of Alice and Basil Sahhar, who founded an orphanage for boys in Bethany in the 1970s. Despite the difficulties of living as Christians in a war-torn land, they increased the number of boys they sheltered and, in 1984, completed a purpose-built orphange for them. Their story is one of dangers faced, love shared, and faith expressed daily in the feeding, sheltering and educating of destitute children. To read it is to understand why the Friends of the Lazarus Home for Girls have dedicated itself to the project. Copies of this book, cost £5.99, plus £2 postage and packing. For those ordering from outside the UK, the cost is £3.50 postage and packing in Europe, and £5.50 postage and packing for North and South America, Australia and New Zealand. Please contact us or email us at lazarus.anderson@btinternet.com for a copy of this moving and inspiring book. - Travelling with McCabe Pilgrimages
